If you want to get away and play golf this winter, consider these links. They are turning heads and have resorts attached to accommodate your stay.
The South? In North Carolina, Pinehurst Resort has redesigned its legendary #2 course and is now revamping its #4 course. Elsewhere in Florida, Streamsong Resort is opening its third layout, complementing two already arrestingly beautiful links created from (believe it or not) an old phosphate mine. North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Resort & Golf gives South Carolina’s Low country a quartet of outstanding links designed respectively by Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, and Davis Love III.1,2,3
The West? In California, the highly regarded Rams Hill Golf Club has lured golfers an hour east of San Diego to the scenic low desert of Borrego Springs. New layouts at Dove Mountain (just northwest of Tucson) and We-Ko-Pa (north of Phoenix) are Arizona’s new resort standouts. Black Jack’s Crossing, the rugged new Lanny Wadkins-designed layout in the Lajitas Golf Resort in the Big Bend region of Texas, has also quickly garnered rave reviews.4
Grab your clubs. Escape the cubicle for the fairway and turn the winter green for a weekend (or longer) with some great golf.
